DESCRIPTION:The Williams Asian American Studies Program warmly invites you to a lecture by Prof. Anna Storti (Duke) on Monday\, October 5\, at 4:30pm in Griffin 3. \nHere’s a brief description of the topic of Prof. Storti’s talk: “An investigation into the political\, aesthetic\, and affective tensions that surround mixed race identity and interracial desire\, Anna Storti’s _Torn: Asian/white Life and the Intimacy of Violence_ (Duke University Press\, 2026) traces the ways Asian Americans with white heritage have either sought to or failed to contend with US imperialism and its unrelenting violence. In this talk\, Professor Storti will read excerpts from _Torn_\, focusing on how the book’s theoretical concepts can help us better understand the series of Wasian meetups that took the Internet by storm this spring.” \nAll are welcome!
