After more than three decades of hospitality, much of the furniture, lamps and lighting fixtures, , decorative knickknacks, rugs, food & beverage service items, and other curiosities are looking for new homes… with food, drink, live music, conversation, and dance all weekend!

Race Brook Lodge will hold a three-day tag sale from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25, opening the Event Barn and the Stagecoach Tavern restaurant to shoppers. On offer: furniture from guest rooms, lounges and the Stagecoach Tavern; lamps and lighting; rugs; decorative items and other curiosities; food service items, from dishes and glassware to serving pieces; restaurant equipment and supplies; small appliances; miscellaneous equipment; and a good deal of unique, useful and hard-to-categorize things gathered over more than thirty years of running a lodge, a restaurant and an events in the southern Berkshires. Some items date back to well before the Rothstein Family’s stewardship of the property.

Take a part of Race Brook Lodge home with you! Since 1990, Race Brook Lodge has hosted all kinds of visitors to the Berkshires: dreamers, hikers, retreat groups, musical performers, and other creative leaders and dinner guests to our sanctuary at the foot of the Taconic Range. The lodge closed its regular hotel and restaurant operations in December 2025, and the tag sale opens much of what furnished those years to the public for the first time. We still don’t know what the future holds for the property, but we are taking this opportunity to hand off many of the treasures that have been accumulating here for generations.

A WEEKEND OF PROGRAMMING

The sale runs alongside a weekend of the kind of programming Race Brook has long been known for. Food will be available in the barn, courtesy of Starry Eyed Cuisine, and the bar will be open in the beloved Stagecoach Tavern dining room, with its sublime fireside ambiance revived for this weekend.
On Friday evening, as the opening day of the sale closes at 7pm, local legends The Joint Chiefs take the stage in the barn. Saturday will feature musical interludes throughout the day, and in the evening local author Laurie Lane-Zucker will offer a candlelight reading from passages of his new book, The Impact Entrepreneur Breakthrough. On Sunday, we will host a series of conversations about the regenerative economy and possibilities for the transition of the RBL property into a robust and sustainable resource for the local community and beyond. Then, we will close with an Ecstatic Dance gathering with returning DJ Omar Aena at 3pm.

The fall calendar continues on Thursday, November 5, when the Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré returns to the Barn for a benefit concert for the Ali Farka Touré Foundation, with Samir LanGus opening. Guest rooms at the lodge are open through November 8 for anyone who would like to make a weekend of it. The full schedule is posted at rblodge.com.
